Artist: Jerusalem
Title: Black Horses
File: Progressive Rock
Released to digital music sales sites June 19th 2026 …
“Black Horses” is indeed a very fine release, and even if you have never heard their heavy rocking 1972 debut, chances are if you like modern prog and 70’s styled hard rock you’ll get a lot of mileage out of this one.”
Pete Pardo SEA OF TRANQUILITY
“Gloom may fill the tracks such as bluesy “The Albatross” with its sharp chorus and Hammond drawl or angry opener “Puppet King” but, as the violin-swept swamp flow of “Leopard Skin Pie” proves, it doesn’t take a hard punch to ram home the vibrant critique of today’s world”
DMME LET IT ROCK
JERUSALEM are a British rock band who released one hard rock album back in 1972 produced by Ian Gillan and in 2008 the band reformed with original members Lynden Williams (vocals) and Bob Cooke (guitars) on board along with Ollie Hannifan (guitar), Dave Meros (bass), Nick D’Virgilio (drums and percussion) and keyboards wizard Geoff Downes.
“Black Horses” (originally released in 2014) is a highlight amongst JERUSALEM’S intriguing back catalogue, containing varied musical styles including “Surfing from Sydney to Marrakesh” which was written in the latter half of the 1960’s when lead vocalist LYNDEN WILLIAMS was a drama student in Edinburgh.
“Black Horses” is an album not to be missed!
Even those who are not prog-rock disciples should give this a listen and approach Jerusalem with an open mind.
