NEW AUDIO RELEASE: MOTT – The Gooseberry Sessions & Rarities (SINGSONG185)

Within weeks of the departure of vocalist Ian Hunter and guitarist Mick Ronson in late 1974 from the ranks of Mott The Hoople, remaining members drummer Dale Griffin, Morgan Fisher (keyboards) and bass guitarist Pete ‘Overend’ Watts were laying down demos at London’s Gooseberry Studio.

The progenitor of one of rock’s best known bands, formed in the UK with Mick Ralphs and David Tedstone on guitars, Stan Tippins on vocals, Dale Griffin on drums and Pete Watts on bass, the Doc Thomas Group toured Italy, recording this tight and buzzing R’n’B set for local label Dischi Interrecord in January 1967.
