Comprising members of MOTT with John Fiddler of Medicine Head, British Lions played the UK supporting Status Quo before winning over US audiences on a 1978 tour from which these recordings are taken.
As so often the case with quality heritage rock, ‘Roaring to Go – Live Stateside ‘78’ probably reflects the verve, dynamism and sheer thrill of this band at work more effectively than its otherwise excellent studio releases.
Their performance at the Old Waldorf venue in San Francisco at the heart of the release, the band’s talent and energy is equally well served by shining moments from their shows that summer in Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona.
Returning to the UK in the autumn, the band was back in the studio to record second album in ‘Trouble With Women’.
