Artist: Quatermass II
Title: Long Road
File: Rock
Released to digital sales October 31st 2025
This tried and trusted British line-up had its underpinnings in cult Harvest Records label 1969 signing Quatermass whose single self-titled LP release boasted a clutch of great material including ‘Black Sheep of The Family’ (covered by Ritchie Blackmore for Rainbow’s debut).

Formed in 1994, Quatermass II featured four of the finest British players and songwriters in UK rock music.Mick Underwood (drums) and Nick Simper (bass) had long-standing careers in rock music having been founder members of Gillan and Deep Purple respectively.
Bart Foley (vocals, guitar) who had worked with Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), along with Gary Davis (guitar) completed an impressive line-up joined by ace keyboard player Don Airey (Rainbow, Brian May).
Quatermass guitarist Johnny Gustafson (Hard Stuff, Ian Gillan Band) contributed two songs to 1997’s ‘Long Road’, the balance written largely by Foley and Davis, the outcome well-received even if the band remained a studio project.
Today’s rock aficionado has much to enjoy in this assured set; taut, crisply-produced and delivered with aplomb by seasoned performers, it never falters.
