Artist: Mo Foster
Title: Time To Think
File: Jazz/Fusion
In 1999, bass supremo Mo Foster was to follow up his critically- acclaimed studio releases ‘Bel Assis’ and ‘Southern Reunion’ with this more experimental and improvisational set.
Taped over two days in the ambient space of St Michaels Church in Oxford, Foster’s compositions were beautifully interpreted by the talent assembled for the sessions: Ray Russell, Simon Chamberlain, Frank Ricotti and Iain Bellamy.
Partly inspired by a visit to the Southern Hemisphere, ‘Time To Think’ is a sweet evocation of happy times in a setting of highly atmospheric mood music.
Mo reflects: “Over those two days, the sun shone, the birds sang, and the music – some of it seen for the first time – took shape.
“It was overpowering to experience my written notes being transformed into music of great honesty, integrity, and passion.”
Foster is an artist whose musical journey has taken him through jazz with Gil Evans, rock with Jeff Beck and Phil Collins, and blues/jazz/folk with Affinity, Joan Armatrading and Van Morrison.
Mo Foster continues to perform live with his band, ‘Friends’.
