Artist: Medicine Head
Title: Radio Sessions 1971-1977
File: Rock/Blues
“…no less than 17 tracks tracing the band’s history via the Radio Sessions that were one of their primal stomping grounds. The band’s first hit” (And The) Pictures In The Sky” opens the first set in magnificent style, darker and more echoey than the familiar single” Dave Thompson, Allmusic
“This takes some beating as a capsule description of the simple but transcendental folk-tinged fare with which, ironically, Fiddler and Peter Hope-Evans dispelled the blues in the moribund Britain of the early 70s.” Marco Rossi, Record Collector
RELEASED TO DIGITAL SALES MARCH 27th 2026
MEDICINE HEAD were always the masters of minimalist rock’n’roll kicking up a storm on stage or creating vastly underrated hit singles.
Playing live was at the core of the band’s existence. This release has been compiled by JOHN FIDDLER and comes from five different radio sessions and band lineups from the period 1971 to 1977.
JOHN FIDDLER and PETER HOPE EVANS are forever linked with the record buying public minds as a two-man band but in this six-year period they morphed into a five-piece lineup, as well.
John Fiddler has the God-given gift of both a compelling and versatile voice as well as an instinctive knack for writing lyrics that go straight to the heart and melodies that stick like glue and lodge in the memory.
Post-1977, punk is around the corner and Medicine Head are no more. The roar of BRITISH LIONS beckons for John as their lead sings and songwriter – but that is a totally different story.
